This is book 6 in The Last Apprentice suspense/horror series. Tom Ward is through the second year of his apprenticeship to the Spook when his Mam asks him, Mr. Gregory and all of the Pendle witches, including Alice, to go with her back to Greece to fight the Ordeen. Now that the Fiend has been raised and brought back to earth, the power of this ancient goddess, the Ordeen, is even greater. She will finally be able to break free of her traditional appearance in Greece and be able to wreck havoc on the entire world. But Tom's mother thinks with the help of the witches, some mercenaries, and both Mr. Awkright and Mr. Gregory as well as Tom, that they have one desperate chance to face the Ordeen and kill her, causing a huge blow to the Dark. So they all travel to that hot, dry land to face the unspeakable horrors of the Ord and Tom discovers that to face the Dark, sometimes one has to use a little bit of the dark. He also has to face some unpleasant truths about his mother and make a bargain he would rather not make. With vivid descriptions of terrible monsters and what they can do, fans of horror will be more than pleased with this installment into the series and will be looking forward to Tom's final showdown with the Fiend.
